Slipping silently into ShadowClan territory, Russetstar padded lightly across the soft pine nettles. The sun was just beginning to make its way over the horizon and weakly shine through the pine canopy hanging over the russet colored leader. It was early, and very few cars were awake, that is except for Russetstar. He always had a love for early mornings, and had a tendency to be the first cat awake no matter the day. He enjoyed the peace that surrounded dawn. So few cars were up and the light chirping of birds could be heard in the distance. There was something soothing about it, it was a nice change from the orderly chaos of sun high that normally occurred in ShadowClan camp.
He had only been leader of ShadowClan for several moons, and he already felt its effects. Being leader was stressful, he could hardly believe that young kits dreamed of being leader. It did have its perks, yes. Mainly the title and the power he had over many cats, but there was also much responsibility. He was in charge of his entire clans well-being, all their lives sat in his paws. If he made one wrong move, a wrong decision, his beloved clan could come tumbling down. It seemed as if the weight of the world rested on his shoulders, he may have the help of a trusted deputy and medicine cat, but when it came down to it the decision was always his, and anything that went wrong was his fault, whether it be directly or indirectly.
As the sun reached higher into the sky, Russetstar reached the edge of ShadowClan territory. The ground became soft under his feet as he came up to the edge of RiverClan territory. Padding along the edge of the border, Russetstar's gaze flickered between RiverClan territory, his own, and the sun, keeping track of were it hung in the sky when something across the border caught his attention.

Although the day was young and there was a scarce amount of cats that were out-and-about, Webstar found himself walking through the territory. Why was he here again? Who cared, he could finally shake off the stress that role of leader had put on his shoulders. Sure, he loved his Clan and all, but he was already growing tired of trying to act perfect, even though he had only been leader for a few moons. The sound of rushing water had always calmed him so as he walked through his territory he was immediately tension-free. He let out a relaxed sigh and was tempted to fish, but that would require taking the fish back to camp, which called for unnecessary attention drawn to himself.
He may have been tired of trying to act perfect but he was just afraid of being viewed by his Clan as a failure of a leader, maybe he was being over-dramatic, but he didn't want to be hated by his Clanmates so early in his role as leader. Webstar was pulled from his thoughts as the muddy ground disappeared from underneath his paws, only to be replaced with a spongey ground and he had to listen closely to hear the fair murmur of running water. Looking around he realized that he was practically over the borderline between ShadowClan and RiverClan.
He let out an angry hiss, mad that he could be so reckless. A flash of panic overcame him as a scent drifted to his nose, a ShadowClanner too. Had they seen his carelessness? Who were they? Deciding to be safe he walk along the border looking for a sign of another cat, maybe he was being over-dramatic, the scent could have been carried from a bit away, he hadn't really paid attention to the strength of the smell due to his panic. He began to head back to camp when a flash caught his eye. Turning he saw the cat he had probably wanted to see the least, Russetstar.
Knowing that there was a good chance Russet knew he was there already, to avoid further embarrassment he decided to go greet the other leader in the most sarcastic way he could. Putting on a forced smile he dipped his head to Russet once he had gotten close enough. "Greetings, old pal how are you?" He asked before letting his gaze flick over the other tom's body, checking to see if the other was as handsome as usual.

As he gazed over the border with a hard green gaze, Russetstar saw the one cat he hadn't expected to see, it was Webstar. The two leaders hadn't seen each other since the last gathering and even then few cool words had been exchanged before the gathering commenced. The two had once been rather close friends, the closest you could really be when being from two different clans. But that friendship has long ceased to exist. Events of the past had quickly ended what little friendship they once had. Now, they were simply fellow leaders of different clans, almost ever exchange they had was cool, yet heated in some odd way as if something between them still remained.
For several moments, Russetstar allowed his eyes to drift down, examining the younger tom. He had defiantly been taking care of himself. His brownish-grey pelt was well kept, and he could see the other toms muscles under his pelt. They both were around the same height, although Russetstar wasn't sure who was the larger of the two. Russetstar was of course older than Webstar but they had each been leader for around the same amount of time. Upon realizing what he had been doing, Russetstar allowed his eyes to linger for a short period of time before returning his focus to the face of the tom in front of him. Locking his green eyes on Webstar's pale yellow-green ones.
A small smirk crossed over Russetstar's face as a forced a slight smile. "Oh, I'm doing very well old friend, and how are you? You seem charming as ever?" He retorted to Wedstar's sarcastic greeting. His sharp claws slowly began to kneed the soft ground. The tip of his claws sinking slowly through the mud. This was something Russetstar did when he was nervous, stressed, or irritated, and he usually didn't even realize he was doing it, and when he did, Russetstar wasn't even sure which emotion he was feeling at the moment, but he knew that Webstar was somehow the cause of it. He always seemed to feel an odd mix of emotions whenever he was around Webstar, but he was rarely able to properly place any of them.

Webstar couldn't help but smirk when he noticed that the other leader's gaze had drifted along Web's pelt. But he quickly hid it as he locked eyes with the leader of ShadowClan. For some reason Russet's forced smile and the feeling of unease that seemed to drift off of him made Webstar feel more confident with his presence. He let out a genuine smile when he noticed that the other tom was kneading the soil.
"I'm doing pretty good, the Clan is flourishing, and you too, seem to be keeping charm, have you found a mate yet?" He asked with a quirk in his mouth. Deciding that they would probably be talking for a bit, Webstar sat down, curling his tail over his paws. Webstar sighed in disbelief at the thick tension that seemed to hang in the air.
"Why so nervous, dear friend? Is my presence all that unnerving?" He asked with a sly smile before standing up and shaking out his pelt. "If you are too troubled I could leave, honestly I'd hate to make you uncomfortable." He let out a chuckle, wondering how his old "friend" would reply. He suddenly stopped in his mental tracks, was he trying to start a fight? He needed to be more careful with his choice of words, the last thing he needed was a fight to cause a rift between their two Clans.
He let out a shaky sigh. "Sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself. That was no way to talk to a fellow leader." He paused momentarily to choose his next words. "How has your Clan been?" Just for now he would act official and like a leader should, once some of the tension was lifted they could talk without the need to be so formal.
(It's short, I'm sorry, I wrote this 50x)
