Spottedstar walked into his camp with long and powerful strides, head raised high and pride in his shining green eyes, he was back from his own personal patrol and was happy to report that there was not even a paw out of line from any of the surrounding Clans, not that he really expected RiverClan to pose much of a threat, after all they had no idea how to hunt anything aside from fish. It was ThunderClan he felt the most hostility for, a trait that had been passed down from quite a few leaders since they had arrived at the Island, from what he had heard from elders when he was a kit at least. Elders that had been here since the move were mostly gone by now, a few here and there may still be able to tell you about what it was like but in a few moons time most might not even be able to remember that there was a place anywhere other than here. Spottedstar was not the type to care about history like that though, he didn't mind not preserving it, all he knew is that his annoyance with ThunderClan was passed down, and it wasn't going to stop with him.
The powerful tomcat stopped in the middle of the camp, long tail wrapping around his paws and he yawned taking a seat and moving a paw up to lightly groom himself, he was relaxing now as it was nearly sundown and time for all the other cats to return from training, hunting, or even their own patrols. He was a proud cat, that much was obvious and he stood in the middle of his camp and looked after his clanmates with all the passion a leader should. And though Spottedstar was a good leader, and no one could doubt his intentions but he was hard to get close to for most, not that the egotistical feline cared much after all he had his Clanmates respect and their loyalty, he kept a close eye on everything going around his home and with his Clan, and he was never disappointed with what he saw, Spottedstar saw hardworking warriors, apprentices, queens, even the kits seemed to be strong and tough to him, full of potential.
His paws kneaded the ground, claws digging into the soft dirt underneath a deep purr erupting in his throat, oh yes, he was going to make WindClan the strongest it has ever been and he will not disappoint his clan or himself, he will be the best leader Windclan has ever seen, he won't be forgotten like the place before this, he was striving to be the best and he would be, he could be nothing less. With that in mind Spottestar watched calmly as one by one his Clanmates returned to the camp and started sharing tongues, talking about today's events and bonding amongst each other. He licked his chest, relaxed and calm as he groomed himself, ears perked and keeping his mind on listening to any chatter that he needed to hear, he actually enjoyed Clan gossip, he found most of it quite funny if not slightly educational depending on who is talking and what it is about. He supposed it was a good thing he wasn't bothered most times, he got to hear everything that goes around.

Sunset had set the sky ablaze with color. Golden clouds, like crisp leaves during leaf-fall, hung suspended from a maple red sky. Raventail appreciated the view as he strolled back to camp, acknowledging the setting sun which winked at him from between the tall moor grasses. He caught glimpses of other things too -- dark shapes that weaved themselves through the grass beside him, for instance. Many of his Clanmates were also returning to camp; he could identify each and every scent, as well as its particular owner.
The scent that was most prominent, however, was from the field mice he held in his jaws. He was mindful of the placement of his tongue, for he could taste the blood and it made his mouth water. These were the final prizes from his long day of hunting, which had resulted in a fair amount of mice and birds for the Clan. He had made several trips back and forth, but these field mice were the last and most recently caught -- he had not bothered to bury them since the day had been quickly drawing to a close. Raventail, feeling satisfied by today's work, wondered if he might help himself after the rest of the Clan had been fed. That pipit I caught earlier today, he wondered as he recalled the plump bird. I wonder if it might still be there?
He shook off the thought, reminding himself that his joy in catching the bird came from those who would enjoy eating it. Raventail served his Clan and served it well, ever mindful of his duty to it. As he approached the camp entrance, he found himself alongside a couple other warriors. All three cats paused, politely waiting for each other to go first. The WindClan deputy gave a slight nod and stepped back, giving a muffled purr as they slipped through the entrance. He followed close behind and emerged into the warm familiarity of WindClan's camp. The first thing he noticed was Spottedstar, who sat in the middle of camp overlooking his Clan with a warm, proud gaze. Raventail flicked his tail in greeting before padding over to the fresh-kill pile.
Wow, Raventail contentedly assessed the prey. Quite the catch we have today. He added his own field mice to the pile, turning from it before he could tempt his own hunger further. He hadn't eaten much today, apart from a small field mouse caught by one of the apprentices. The young cat had been so proud of their catch; Raventail had been more than happy to oblige and shower them with praise (perhaps a tad too enthusiastically) as he tried the morsel. "You're quite a hunter in the making, Graypaw! Keep it up!" he had said, doing his best to savor the one or two bites the prey had offered. If it benefited the apprentice by giving them a self-esteem boost, Raventail would probably eat the oldest and toughest of tasteless prey around. Prey was prey, right?
The deputy drew his tongue over his muzzle, licking away the lingering taste of fresh-kill. Pushing his hunger to the back of his mind, Raventail spotted his leader again and made his way over to the tom. Spottedstar was prominently larger than most WindClan cats, and Raventail, leaning more on the shorter side, wondered if he seemed humorously dwarfed next to him. "Greetings, Spottedstar." he said, dipping his head. "I hope your border patrol went well?" While Raventail seemed quite formal in his manner and speech, the warmth in his eyes and tone of voice revealed that he regarded Spottedstar as a dear friend -- not just as an authoritative figure, where the only interaction is one of dutiful business. Notes: I wrote as if Spotted and Raven would be friends, but I'm happy to change it if need be. We haven't plotted about it yet, so I put whatever. ^-^

Whatever you are, be a good one TAG. alderWORDS. 610 MUSE. Nothing specific NOTES. I definitely like that they're friends! He needed a deputy that would be his friend :3 |
It never felt odd to Spottedstar that he was so much taller than most of the cats in his clan, he was actually one of the larger of all the clans, especially among the four leaders he was perhaps the biggest, though he's actually never compared himself to Russetstar, Spotted never really got along with most of the leaders and so he never found himself with any reason to stand close to them. He was proud of himself for managing to be professional around the other clans, it wouldn't do WindClan well to be seen as hostile or violent in a gathering, StarClan was against that sort of thing and it had been ages since a gathering was stopped short by arguing and he was not about to be the cause of it, of that he was sure, even if the other clans liked to try and start things. Of course it may not be completely true about the other clans starting things, Spottedstar was just too full of his own pride and the pride of his clan that he would never admit to them being wrong if he could help it. He hasn't approved of hunting in another territory, has kept to his own quite religiously and of that he was proud, they had no reason to try and attack the other clans, they had nothing his clanmates were good at hunting anyway besides a few mice in Thunderclan. His nose crinkled at the thought as though he had smelt some bad crowfood before returning to normal, and looking calm again.
His green eyes spotted Raventail, his deputy walking him, and he found himself purring at the sight of his friend. It was not a secret that the leader and his deputy were close friends, though Spottedstar would never chose someone to be deputy who he didn't trust to take his duties seriously, and of that Raventail did well it just so happened that him and his deputy got along like close friends. They have opposing personalities in some aspects, while Spottedstar was quick to act and impatient Raventail was the one who was filled with patience. The deputy was the one cat Spottedstar never failed to go to for something, be it personal or professional it didn't matter. And though they were friends Spottedstar didn't make a move to go over, no doubt the deputy was hungry or even tired, he wouldn't distract him from that. His eyes moved away, he had eaten already earlier today, he didn't need to anymore and he had a whole clan to look after, his tail twitched at the thought, perhaps soon he would go share tongues with Starclan, it has been a long time since he's done that and they haven't visited him recently, not that he doubted them-
Words shook him out of his thoughts, ears flicking and his head angled down, looking at his deputy in mild surprise but there was a pleased look in his eyes as well. He nodded his head back, a show of respect for the shorter cat that he was not afraid to give. "Welcome back Raventail." He purred out, the tone of his words warm, "Of course it went well, not many in the other clans would try and start a fight, even if it's just me." He made a playful swipe of his large paw, claws unsheathed momentarily before disappearing into his paw once again. "I saw your hunting went well, that's good, though maybe you should eat, your clan needs you well-fed and ready for anything." There was enough to feed the whole clan this day, no one needed to go hungry.
